Dream Cycle

A friendly face flashes by

Smiles all around as greetings are made

It’s a carefree moment in time

Everyone is at peace

Daddy shows up

The brightness fades

Transitioning all too quickly

It’s dark and scary

Heart racing, body sweating

“Leave me alone”

Must keep running

Eyes open, interruption

A sigh of relief

The blanket’s cover is reassuring

Deep breaths as eyes close once more

A friendly face flashes by

Don’t sleep too long this time
